Our Story
The History of Beach Blast & TVC
Uniting the Toronto Volleyball Community
Beach Blast
Since we opened in 1997, Beach Blast has had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people through the sport of volleyball. During our many years of volleyball operations at Leswyn Rd, over a decade at The Docks, our brief foray into a court volleyball venue called Victory Volleyball in Mississauga, and 12 years of managing the largest outdoor adult beach volleyball league in North America for the OVA at Ashbridges Bay with over 100 courts and over 1200 teams annually, we have been central to offering volleyball players a chance to learn and love the game.
With rising rent costs and Covid-19, we closed Beach Blast in 2020. But we still operate the 8 outdoor beach volleyball courts at Caledonia Park (adjacent to our former building). These fenced in courts run seasonally from May to September and is a great centre for Leagues, Tournaments, Court Rentals, Corporate Events, Instructional Programs, and more!
We also rent court time at the only indoor beach volleyball venue in the GTA, Volleyball Canada’s National Team Training Centre. This 3 court venue is also located at Downsview Park, only a 2 minute walk from our new indoor hard courts.
Toronto Volleyball Centre
In Sept 2021, we took our love of volleyball from the sand to the court. Our new facility, Toronto Volleyball Centre (TVC) was launched inside the Hangar Sports & Event Centre at Downsview Park. It consists of 2 indoor courts and is easily accessible from Highway 401, Highway 400, the TTC and Downsview GO Train Station. This central location is ideal for volleyball enthusiasts, near and far. We are running leagues, training, camps, courts rentals and more at this location as well!
